TRIEC’s workshops are designed to support team members and leaders in today’s culturally diverse workplace. Resources cover effective communication and team-work as well as recruitment, selection and talent management practices to create workplaces inclusive of skilled immigrants.

    This workshop will provide you with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by skilled immigrant candidates during interviews, and help you identify strategies to enhance the effectiveness of your behaviour-based interviews. Use this facilitator’s guide and resources to deliver the training curriculum in your workplace. 

    Learning outcomes: 
    Participants will leave the workshop with the ability to:
    • Recognize how culture influences perceptual screens and behaviours during the interview process 
    • Identify barriers which may hinder accurate assessment of an immigrant candidates’ perceived “fit” 
    • Apply culturally-competent strategies when using behaviour-based interview questions

    Deliver this workshop to promote understanding of the importance of inclusive resume screening strategies for HR professionals and hiring managers in today’s culturally-diverse workplace. Use the facilitator’s guide and resources to deliver the training curriculum in your workplace.

    Learning Outcomes:
    Participants will leave the workshop with:

    • An understanding of how cultural differences can influence how resumes are presented and screened.
    • Strategies to grow an organization’s talent base by considering culturally-competent practices in resume screening
    • An action plan outlining ways to incorporate inclusive and culturally sensitive recruiting and screening practices within a participant’s specific organization

    The workshop will help HR managers develop inclusive talent sourcing practices to better tap into the pool of qualified immigrant talent. Use the facilitator’s guide and resources to deliver the training curriculum in your workplace.

    • Identify issues and challenges that organizations face in sourcing skilled immigrant talent.
    • Describe the factors that can limit an employers’ ability to tap into the new immigrant talent pool.
    • Recognize how inclusive recruitment strategies, including competency based job descriptions can improve a skilled new immigrant’s ability to enter the labour market and promote cultural diversity in the workplace.
